Legal fees

In most countries lawyers handling arbitrations charge by reference to an hourly rate.

The level of the legal fees will depend significantly upon the procedure adopted in the arbitration: see Procedure.

It is normal, both under the leading institutional rules and under most national arbitration laws, for arbitrators to have the power to order that the winning party’s legal costs should be paid by the losing party.
